A Message from 6th Street’s Founder
Change is inevitable, sometimes unexpected, and often difficult to navigate.
​It is with a full heart that we announce a transition for 6th Street Studios & Art Center. While our time in our current downtown physical location has come to a close, we are deeply grateful for everything this space has meant to our community. At the end of our lease, we have transitioned the space to the local music school @erockschool.
​To our local artists, art instructors, parents, and youth: thank you. Your dedication, creativity, and support since our inception have built something truly special. The memories and impact we’ve shared are proof of how much this organization matters.
Our Story
6th Street Studios & Art Center started under Gallery 1202 in 2019, providing South County with cultural performances, and artist opportunities. In 2021, 6th Street Studios & Art Center became an official non-profit and opened it’s doors, providing affordable studio, exhibition and marketplace opportunities. 6th Street has organized over 20 free public art events, including the monthly Art Walk, Art Markets, and exhibitions. In 2022, 6th Street launched its educational programming, starting with their first Spring Break Art Camp, followed by youth and adult art classes, and a Summer Camp. In 2022, we established our Youth Mentorship program thanks to a generous grant from the Gilroy Foundation, and have expanded this program into 2023 and beyond.
